West Jordan Canal Spills Over its Banks

EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WERE SCRAMBLING WEDNESDAY MORNING -- NEAR 40TH WEST, 93RD SOUTH, IN WEST JORDAN -- AFTER A CANAL OVERFLOWED ITS BANKS.

OFFICIALS SAY, TUMBLEWEEDS -- AND OTHER DEBRIS -- PLUGGED A WATER GRATE IN THE CANAL, FORCING THOUSANDS OF GALLONS OVER THE CANAL BANK.

NO HOMES WERE FLOODED. BUT WATER COULD HAVE GONE INTO ONE HOUSE, IF THOSE HOMEOWNERS HAD NOT TAKEN THE PRECAUTION OF PLACING SANDBAGS OUTSIDE THEIR PATIO DOOR.

THE GRATE WAS CLEARED...AND CANAL WATER WAS FLOWING PROPERLY, LATER IN THE MORNING.
