Utah-BYU Rivalry Game Will Include One Football Newcomer

A POTENTIAL HERO -- FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH FOOTBALL TEAM, IN SATURDAY NIGHT'S RIVALRY GAME AT B-Y-U -- WOULDN'T EVEN BE THERE, IF HE HADN'T SKIED OFF A CLIFF.

UTE PLACE KICKER ANDY PHILLIPS LEADS THE PAC-12, AFTER HITTING ALL 19 OF HIS EXTRA POINT ATTEMPTS, IN JUST THREE GAMES.

NOT BAD, FOR A FORMER MEMBER OF THE U-S SKI TEAM, WHO ONLY CHOSE TO PLAY FOOTBALL, AFTER BREAKING HIS LEG, WHEN HE SKIED OFF A CLIFF.

THE 24-YEAR-OLD HAD NEVER PLAYED IN A FOOTBALL GAME -- AT ANY LEVEL -- WHEN HE NAILED THREE FIELD GOALS IN UTAH'S SEASON-OPENING WIN OVER UTAH STATE.

HE'S NOW 5-FOR-5 ON FIELD GOALS...AND WILL LIKELY BE A FACTOR IN THE FINAL RIVALRY GAME, FOR THREE YEARS.
