Thirty Rescuers Spend Five Hours Retrieving a Big Cottonwood Canyon Fall Victim

ABOUT THIRTY SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM MEMBERS SPENT A COLD AND DARK FIVE HOURS -- IN LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, MONDAY NIGHT -- THANKS TO A HIKER FALL, THAT SERIOUSLY INJURED A 35-YEAR-OLD SALT LAKE MAN.

UNIFIED POLICE SAY THE VICTIM WAS CLIMBING WITH FOUR FRIENDS...AND BY THE TIME RESCUERS ARRIVED, IT WAS NEARLY DARK...MAKING THE RESCUE MUCH MORE DIFFICULT.

THE VICTIM WAS EVENTUALLY RUSHED TO AN AREA HOSPITAL, IN SERIOUS CONDITION.

RESCUERS WORE HEADLAMPS -- AND USED A ROPE AND PULLEY SYSTEM -- TO BRING HIM DOWN.
