The Number of Dead Eagles in Utah Has Now Reached Forty

UTAH WILDLIFE OFFICIALS SAY, THE NUMBER OF BALD EAGLES -- THAT APPEAR TO HAVE DIED FROM WEST NILE VIRUS, IN OUR STATE -- HAS NOW CLIMBED TO 40.

A WILDLIFE DISEASE SPECIALIST SAYS, ANOTHER FIVE EAGLES ARE ALSO CONTINUING TO BE TREATED AT REHABILITATION CENTERS IN OUR STATE.

AUTHORITIES HAVE STILL NOT DETERMINED WHY THE DISEASE HAS SURFACED THIS YEAR, AFTER NOT BEING DETECTED IN THE BIRDS -- TO ANY GREAT EXTENT --PREVIOUSLY.
