Murder, Vehicle Theft and Home Burglary -- All in the Tiny Community of Toquerville

A STRING OF VIOLENT CRIMES, EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING, HAS THE TINY SOUTHERN UTAH COMMUNITY OF TOQUERVILLE IN SHOCK.

WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S SARGEANT DAVE CROUSE SAYS, IN JUST A FEW HOURS AUTHORITIES UNCOVERED A HOME BURGLARY... A VEHICLE THEFT... AND A MURDER.

DEPUTIES FIRST RESPONDED TO A HOME BREAK-IN, JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT, WEDNESDAY MORNING.

WHILE THEY WERE AT THAT HOME, A TIPSTER PHONED IN A REPORT, THE VEHICLE -- SUSPECTED OF BEING INVOLVED IN THE BURGLARY -- WAS AT A GAS STATON.

POLICE SAY THE CALLER PROVIDED THE VEHICLE'S LICENSE PLATE NUMBER... AND WHEN THEY RESPONDED -- TO THE REGISTERED OWNER'S HOME, IN TOQUERVILLE -- THEY FOUND THE BODY OF AN ELDERLY WOMAN, WHO HAD APPARENTLY BEEN MURDERED.

POLICE WERE NOT IDENTIFYING THE VICTIM -- AS OF WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON -- OR SAYING HOW SHE WAS KILLED.

AUTHORITIES DON'T KNOW HOW MANY SUSPECTS ARE INVOLVED.
