Lawmakers Running Out of Time to Pass Clean Air Bills

MEASURES -- TO CLEAR NORTHERN UTAH'S MURKY WINTER AIR -- CONTINUE TO MAKE THEIR WAY THROUGH THE STATE LEGISLATURE.

BUT WITH ONLY A WEEK LEFT -- IN THE 2014 GENERAL SESSION -- IT'S NOT CLEAR HOW MANY OF THE PROPOSALS WILL GAIN FINAL APPROVAL.

LAWMAKERS CLAIM THEY ARE HEEDING CALLS, FROM UTAH RESIDENTS WHO ARE SICK OF THE SMOG.

PROPOSALS INCLUDE: A 20-MILLION DOLLAR PUSH, FOR CLEANER FUEL-BURNING SCHOOL BUSSES... WOOD-BURNING STOVE REPLACEMENTS... AND MORE AUTHORITY FOR STATE AIR QUALITY REGULATORS TO LIMIT PUBLIC HEALTH RISKS.
