Duchesne High School Student Stabbed in Fight With Another Student

DUCHESNE — One student was injured and another was taken into custody Wednesday after a fight at Duchesne High School escalated to a stabbing, authorities said.

Few details are available about the incident, but Duchesne County Sheriff's Chief Deputy David Boren said deputies are at the school and it has been secured.

Boren said the preliminary reports are that two students started fighting about 11 a.m. and one of the students stabbed the other. The injured student was transported to Uintah Basin Medical Center in critical condition, Boren said. The other was taken into custody.

Detectives are responding to the school, which was temporarily locked down. The ages of the students involved were not immediately known.

A DUCHESNE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WAS HOSPITALIZED WEDNESDAY MORNING -- IN CRITICAL CONDITION -- AFTER BEING STABBED.

DUCHESNE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES REPORT, ONE OF THE VICTIM'S FELLOW STUDENTS IS SUSPECTED IN THE CRIME... AND WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY.

THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE WORD, WHAT CAUSED THE DISPUTE.

POLICE WERE CONTINUING TO INVESTIGATE AT THE SCHOOL, WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
