Cottonwood Heights Stores Evacuated After Mystery Odor Causes Health Problems

OFFICIALS HAVE ALLOWED THREE COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS STORES TO REOPEN, AFTER THEY HAD BEEN EVACUATED -- FOR NEARLY TWO HOURS, FRIDAY MORNING -- BECAUSE OF A MYSTERIOUS ODOR.

FOUR TJ MAXX EMPLOYEES -- AT 70TH SOUTH, 13TH EAST -- RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION.

TWO OF THEM WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL, FOR EVALUATION.

EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WERE DISPATCHED TO THE STORE, JUST AFTER 9 FRIDAY MORNING, WHEN EMPLOYEES COMPLAINED OF SORE THROATS... DIZZYNESS... AND NUMBNESS IN THEIR HANDS.

POLICE SAY CHEMICALS OR RESIDUE -- FROM RECENT WORK ON THE STORE'S AIR DUCT SYSTEM -- CAUSED THE PROBLEM.

THE EFFECTED EMPLOYEES WERE ALL MAKING RAPID RECOVERIES, AS THE STORES REOPENED.
