Grasshoppers are Causing Big Produce Problems in Southern Utah

This is proving to be a devastating season -- for Southern Utah produce companies -- thanks to grasshoppers.

One company claims the pests have destroyed 50,000 pounds of cantaloupes, 1000 cherry trees and 500 peach trees.

Agriculture officials say conditions have been perfect for grasshoppers this year.

Food supplies have been plentiful and timely rains have helped sustain the insects.
